Elizabeth Lenti has accepted the position of Associate Organist at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland OH. She will also teach organ at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she completed her graduate studies a few years ago. In both positions she will be working with Todd Wilson. July 31, 2011 was Elizabeth's last Sunday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena where she served for six years as Associate Organist-Choirmaster. She also held several positions on the Los Angeles Chapter's Executive Committee.

Elfrieda Baum has been named an Honorary Life Member of the Los Angeles Chapter AGO by unanimous proclamation of the chapter's executive committee, in appreciation of her many years of service to the chapter as dean and member-at-large and for her contribution of time and effort toward the advancement of the organ and music in Southern California as church organist and teacher. The honor was awarded by Dean Manuel Rosales at the chapter dinner March 21, 2011.

Richard Grayson has posted more of his piano improvisations "in the style of" on YouTube, including Offenbach's Can-Can in the style of Stravinsky and a two-piano improvisation on Paganini's familiar Caprice No. 24. These are from a performance at the Crossroads School on February 27, 2011. The links are on his website.

Christoph Bull has released a recording on the Walt Disney Concert Hall organ. It is an eclectic program of music from Bach to Barber. More information is on his website, where you can also hear an excerpt. Christoph is university organist and organ professor at UCLA and organist of First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica. "What a Gift to the Organ World"

This is just one of the many accolades our chapter has received for its professionally produced DVD, Life and Music of Jean Langlais. The program is based on the research of Langlais disciple Ann Labounsky, who is featured as narrator and performer.

The DVD is available in both American (NTSC) and European (PAL) DVD formats. Click here to learn more about this exciting DVD project, read reviews, play excerpts, or see ordering information.

Life and Music of Jean Langlais makes an excellent gift for a favorite organist, teacher, or student -- or for yourself! Another idea: Donate one to a library.  See the review of this DVD in the June 2007 issue of The American Organist, page 82.
