Program Series
The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is pleased
to present a number of concerts and educational events each season,
centered around organ and choral music. Most of these
programs are open to the public, with free admission; we invite members and non-members alike to attend our public events.

The cathedral's organist Samuel Salvador Soria performs a
recital on one of the largest pipe organs in California. This program is
cosponsored with the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The program
includes works of 20th-century American composers Gardner Read, Myron
Roberts, Ned Rorem, Everett Titcomb, and Leo Sowerby.

Timothy Howard, director of music and organist of Pasadena
Presbyterian Church, hosts an evening in the holiday spirit with
merrymaking, refreshments, and a program of organ and choral music of the
season with audience carol singing. Performers include organists Andrea
Anderson and Nancy Ruczynski, and The Pasadena Singers.

organist Jonathan Dimmock presents a recital on the recently
renovated cathedral
organ. Jonathan Dimmock is organist of St. Ignatius Church (San
Francisco), Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, Congregation Sherith
Israel (San Francisco), and the San Francisco Symphony. His program will
consist of music inspired by dance, including works of Bach, Sweelinck,
Hampton, Messiaen, Copland, Heiller, Brewer, and Bovet. This program is

Presidents Day Organ Festival in
Glendale
Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Admission: Free, open to the public (optional lunch by reservation).

Morning and afternoon sessions will feature instruments in Glendale,
with luncheon available by reservation. Organs to be visited are the Schlicker at Salem
Lutheran Church, the Skinner recently refurbished and installed at
St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and the recently enlarged Schantz at First
United Methodist Church. Organists performing will be Cherry Rhodes,
Alexander Frey, Ladd Thomas, Jay Brunot, Marija Lončar
Strohm, and Kyle Black.
The formal presentations will end at 3:30 p.m.,
and the final hour will be available for two optional activities: a pipe
voicing demonstration and an open console.

A Concert of Remembrance for those who have entered the Larger Life:
featuring the Hundredth Anniversary of The David Falconer Memorial Organ (Murray M. Harris, 1911).
Concert organist Todd Wilson performs the Poulenc Concerto
for Organ, Strings and Timpani; the Choir of St. James' performs the
Duruflé Requiem; and the program includes other works for choir
and organ; James Buonemani conducts. This concert is
cosponsored with Great Music at St. James'.
Todd Wilson is head of the Organ Department at The Cleveland Institute
of Music and Curator of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Severance Hall in
Cleveland, OH; he is also Director of Music and Worship at Cleveland’s
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and House Organist for the newly-restored
Aeolian organ at the Stan Hywet Home and Gardens, Akron, OH.
Organ: Murray M. Harris, 1911; rebuilt in 1995 with incorporations from
the Kimball Organ of 1926, new pipe work in the style of Harris by Austin,
and a console and casework by Schlicker. Additions: en chamade division by
Austin in 2000; gallery Positiv by Zamberlan in 2005.
